How to suggest a strain
Ask for a strain that is missing from Search. The app checks the name, then sends it for research.
Applies to the High IQ iPhone app · Updated
If a strain is missing from Search, you can suggest it. The app checks that the name is a real strain. Then it sends the strain for research.
Before you start
- Type the full name of the strain. Check the spelling.
- Enter at least two letters.
Steps
- Tap Suggest this strain. You see this button on a Search screen when nothing matches. You can also find the suggestion form in Settings.
- Type the strain name in the field.
- Tap Check name.
- If the app finds a real strain, it says Real strain found. Tap Submit for research.
- Wait for the message Submitted. The app says it is researching the strain.
- Tap Open strain to see the strain page, or tap Done to close the form.
You can also tap Search strains or Suggest another.
When the name is not accepted
The app may show one of these messages:
- “This does not look like a strain name.”
- “We found too little evidence this strain exists.”
- “This may be a misspelling of a strain we have.”
- “This strain is already in the library.” Tap Open strain to see it.
To start again, tap Try another name. Check the spelling, use the full name, or open the strain if it is already in the library.
What happens next
The request goes to review and then to research. Timing can vary. You can leave the screen while research runs. The app keeps your request on this device for 24 hours, for the same account.
Note: Requests stop after 30 seconds. If the status times out, you see “Status timed out. Research may still be running.” Check the strain page later.
If the request fails
- If you see “Could not connect to verify this strain,” check your connection and try again.
- If you see “Too many suggestions,” wait a few minutes.
