Widgets not updating: what to do

Use this page when a High IQ widget shows old numbers, asks you to sign in, or shows no data. Widgets get their data from the app, so open the app first.

What you may see

• “Open High IQ to sign in.” Tapping the widget opens the app.
• “Add your first strain,” “Rank strains to build your list,” or “Earn milestones to gain XP.” These are normal empty messages.
• Numbers that do not match the app, such as an old stash count.

Likely causes

• You have not opened High IQ for a while.
• You are signed out. Widget data is cleared when you sign out, and when a different account signs in.
• Some widgets show data only for features your account can use. If a feature does not show in the app, the widget will not show it either.
• iOS decides when widgets refresh, so an update can lag.

Fixes, in order

1. Open High IQ. Wait a moment for the home data to load. Then look at the widget again.
2. If the widget says “Open High IQ to sign in,” tap the widget to open the app. Then sign in.
3. Open the same feature in the app. If it does not open there, the widget will not show it either.
4. Remove the widget and add it again. Long-press the widget, tap Remove Widget, then add it again. Long-press the Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit or Add Widget, and choose High IQ.

Note: Widget data stays on your iPhone. It is not shared with other devices.
