Why 4:20?

The popular story starts in 1971 at San Rafael High School in California. A group of friends agreed to meet at 4:20 PM by a statue of Louis Pasteur. The meeting time became a code word, then a worldwide tradition. Because the clock reads 4:20 twice a day in every time zone, it is 4:20 somewhere on Earth every hour.
